Dear *|FNAME|*,

Welcome to new version of our old Newsletter!

The new Model Aeronautical Association of Queensland (MAAQ) committee would like to extend a friendly hello to all our members and to let you know we are dedicated to making a difference and leveraging the achievements of previous committees to support our sport into the next year. We need to acknowledge there is always a time of adjustment while the new committee members learn their new roles and receive the handovers from their predecessors so bear with us while we get up to speed.

Our aim is to provide clear pathways for your interactions with MAAQ and to make sure you are kept well informed.  We have updated our new committee members and organisational structure on our website and included a listing of the functional responsibilities for each member which we believe you will find helpful.

Immediate Focus

Our immediate focus over the next 12 months will be reviewing the MAAQ processes, systems and communications and working on ensuring we increase our efficiency and support provided to our clubs.

We recognise our clubs are our customers and adopting a policy of continuous improvement in servicing our customers is paramount to the growth and success of our sport.  With this in mind we will be embarking on a two stage approach;
  1. Ensuring contact information for our clubs is correct (Executive Contacts)
  2. Commencing a regular communications campaign to Executive contacts (for dissemination to club members if and when required or desired by the club)

Once these regular paths of communications are established we will be able to communicate future changes and assist you and your clubs with any improvements, support and changes that are planned.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to any of us on the committee for any assistance.

Regards,

Mick Dallmann

Our New Secretary

The members of your 2023 MAAQ team have some great and diverse business experience to draw on in their roles and over the next few communications we will provide some background on each person for you to get to know us.

Our new MAAQ Secretary, Rodney Clarke brings a wealth of IT and business experience to the role.  Although only having a short modelling history of just 7 years, his existing role as Secretary, Treasurer and website developer at Redlands Aero Modellers (RAMS) and as a Senior IT and Business Project Manager, his diverse experience will provide an excellent combination of skills, drive and determination to support MAAQ going forward.

Please welcome Rodney to his new role and extend to him your patience while he is coming up to speed.

Instructor Courses and Recertification

A reminder to all our dedicated instructors to keep an eye on when your instructor status is due to expire (every 3 years) and to re-certify as soon as possible.  Our State Flying Instructor (SFI), Steve Lightowler will be holding instructor courses as follows;
To book in for a course just email Steve with your information and tell him which course you would like to book in for.

If you would like to apply to become an instructor contact your own Club President or Club Secretary so they may nominate you for an Instructor course via email to Steve at sfi@maaq.org
