Come and Try Pylon Racing at Hedlow Airfield – 11/12 October 2025
The Capricorn Radio Control Aviators Club invites you to their “Come and Try Pylon Racing Weekend” on October 10-12, 2025, at Hedlow Airfield between Rockhampton and Yeppoon. This is a great opportunity to try short course pylon racing in a friendly, relaxed environment.
Whether you’re new to the sport or looking to improve your skills, this weekend caters to all levels. Have a go at the E2K Class or Q500—good starting points for beginners—or bring along your sport model to see how you go. A number of experienced pylon pilots will be there to guide newcomers through the basics.
Hedlow Airfield’s rural setting makes for pleasant flying, with accommodation and camping options available on-site if you’d like to stay the weekend. The club will be catering both days.
You can drop in for just a few hours or a day if you’re curious or stay for the entire weekend. It’s good fun and a chance to fly in some nice Queensland countryside.
Of interest, the majority of E2K electric powered aircraft attending the event are 3D printed, offering a low cost, easily repaired option. Kits, RX ready aircraft will be for sale and print files are also available.
For bookings and more information, contact James York at CRCAC on 0423 632 590. Come along and see what pylon racing is all about.
