MAAQ in partnership with Suncoast Model Flyers, Coolum hosted a Fly-in event on the weekend of 5th & 6th November to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of MAAA. There have been a few events held across the country for the commemorations and was the biggest that we have held in Queensland. Around 90 members registered for the event and many more turned up for a look across the weekend. It was a great social weekend with the format of mostly free flying and there were a few demos from the QMARA (Pylon) group. MAAA and MAAQ sponsored the weekend to fund a free dinner for attending members and family on the Saturday evening.
This event was very well received, with lots of positive feedback. Following on from this we have an idea to sponsor an annual state event with a similar format and with more involvement from the SIG’s and to host this at a different club each year.
