There was a huge number of applications for the MAAA Club Assistance Scheme (CAS) grant application process this year.

In previous years the CAS scheme has been undersubscribed, so the MAAA made a conscious effort to open the scheme up and encourage more to apply.

As a result, the MAAA were overwhelmed with the quantity and diversity of the responses. Some 42 clubs applied,  totalling around $400,000 and requesting MAAA contributions of almost $200,000.

Due to the success of the program and the volume of applications, the MAAA approved an additional $30,000 to be provided to the scheme – bringing the total pool to $100,000.

Each application was thoroughly reviewed and assessed against a number of criteria developed by the MAAA Executive.

Out of the 15 applications the MAAA received from our clubs in Queensland, we were delighted to hear 6 were approved for funding.

We would therefore like to congratulate the following clubs for their successful application for funding;

  • Bundaberg Aero Modellers $8,000
  • Mackay and District Aero Modellers $6,100
  • Dalby Model Aero Club $8,000
  • Radio Aeromodellers Association Ipswich District $6,000
  • Roma and Districts Aeromodelling Club $2,926
  • Moreton Region Sports Soaring $3,460

(Amounts mentioned above are inclusive of the MAAQ co-contribution amount)

It should be noted that the funds become available this July, so all successful clubs please make sure invoices are dated after this time.

Clubs who have been previously successful in obtaining an CAS package are able to apply again, but will not be given priority.
